Welcome to the Mental Health Internship Program with Linn County Health Services!
Linn County Mental Health (LCMH) Leadership fosters a culture of high quality and positive learning experiences for graduate student interns.
LCMH internship program is a structured experience for students completing their clinical training in their Master’s in Social Work or Master’s in Counseling programs. The purpose of the internship is to provide a thorough orientation to the practice-based learning environment followed by a structured and progressive supervision with case-based experiences and evaluation that develop the students into independent mental health professionals. This is all done within the context and framework of community-based mental health. The internship provides the students with an understanding of LCMH policy and practice, and training to deliver high quality care to the residents of Linn County.
Internship duties include delivering within an episodic care model all aspects of evidence-based clinical services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment delivery, outcome measurement, maintaining all documentation standards, and complying with all Linn County Health Services and LCMH policies and procedures.
Our internship program’s qualified clinical supervisors provide direct observation of all clinical activities and progress to more indirect methods of oversight based on the intern’s performance of clinical skills. Individual clinical supervision is provided at a minimum of one hour per week and may be adjusted based on demonstrated competence.
Graduate students in nationally accredited master’s degree programs interested in exploring careers in the mental health field may apply. Placements may be available on teams such as Child and Family, Adult Outpatient, and Integrated Crisis Services.
