Problem Gambling Prevention
The Linn County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program works to raise awareness about problem gambling and help prevent gambling-related harm in our community. Our prevention efforts focus on education, outreach, and community engagement.
In the Classroom
Linn County 4th and 6thgrade students receive a lesson on problem gambling in conjunction with Botvin’s LifeSkills training. These sessions help young people build healthy habits, strengthen decision-making skills, and better understand the risks of gambling.
Supporting Parents and Families
We share information about youth problem gambling through local media and at community events to help parents recognize the signs and talk with their kids about making healthy choices.
Problem Gambling Awareness Month
Each March, we take part in Problem Gambling Awareness Month through a variety of local activities, including:
- A student art contest for 6th grade students
- A free problem gambling screening and information table
- Media campaigns highlighting youth gambling risks
Community Outreach
The Linn County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program sponsor billboard messages to increase awareness about problem gambling. We also promote the free problem gambling treatment resources available to Oregon residents.
